How much is sufficient as study preparation for the PMP exam? With the plethora of prep books, simulation exams, mind maps, flash cards, sample questions, apps and other online resources readily available one is still left with a jittery feeling for the things that are still to be read, re-read and devoured again before the exam. And as the exam date looms ahead, this feeling of having missed doing “something” crucial in ensuring success becomes stronger. And honestly, it seems, preparing for the exam, studying more than enough does not seem to be enough!! It is difficult to be able to have that self-confidence of being 100% prepared.
It is natural of course to feel that there is still something is missing in your preparation despite having weathered through countless hours of study. Topics not specifically mentioned in PMBOK® Guide like the HR theories of motivation and point of total assumption makes one start wondering if there are many more like these which will make or break the exam results!
Just relax, it is true that you cannot define what’s adequate and enough study for the exam. Posts run galore debating even on how many 4-hr mock tests are sufficient. 2,4,10?? And the answer to that is no one is certain for sure.
You might have such thoughts before entering the exam centre:
- Wish I had read the HR theories
- I aspired to read the glossary once more but simply forgot
- . do I actually remember the difference between schedule compression and crashing
- Wish I had got the time to appear for 1 more mock test
- …. AND THE LIST CAN JUST KEEP GOING……
The worst thing would be if you carry such thoughts into the exam hall.
These thoughts are similar to the RANSOMWARE virus. A program that gets into the system and holds something important to ransom. Similarly, these uncertain thoughts in your system are not going to help in any way to enable you to perform better during the crucial 4 hours of the exam.
MAKE SURE YOU DON’T HOLD YOUR PMP CERTIFICATION AT RANSOM WITH THESE
Be strong that you have studied is adequate to pass with flying colours!!!
